The Cave Concerts are a series of concerts performed at Hawk Hill Tunnel. The tunnel is located in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA), part of the Marin Headlands, on a bluff overlooking the Golden Gate, with breath-taking views of San Francisco and the pacific ocean.
The Tunnel was designed during World War II as the future home of guns. The earthworks that crown the unfinished fortifications now serve as the site of wildlife observation and annual bird counts. The Tunnel itself offers incredible resonance and is sealed off on one end by the event crew and transformed into a Cave. This event is made possible with permits through GGNRA.
The “Cave Crew” is a network of volunteers who have been fundamental in the success of the Cave Concert series. Cave Crew members help manage and support all of the activities on-site at the events. Cave Community Vision:
From the first contact at the gate, we provide the opportunity for each member of our participating community to enter a state of remembering, activating a deep memory of who we are as individuals, and as part of the fabric of creation. Through our presence and attitude we invite all of you to ride a wave of visual and sonic beauty facilitated by the view, the Cave Crew, the musicians, the artists, the cave, the community itself and the transformed spirit of the place. Together we ride this wave of integral spirit, reawakening again to our true nature. This wave envelopes us for the evening, continuing to caress us as we return back down the mountain, renewed for experiencing our given potential in the world.
